Monte I'm listening to your tape from 6/10/73. Dark Star to be precise and it's wonderful. Thanks for putting it up. I was at 8/1/73 at Roosevelt Stadium and I think you were there as well. Did you tape this show as well? Is it available?

I was at both Roosevelt Stadium shows in 1973, on July 31 and Aug 1. I taped both shows on my Nakamichi 550. Jerry's b'day was enjoyed by all of us at both shows. It began on July 31st, with the 2nd set, after midnight. I saw your review next to mine for the Aug 1 show.

Roosevelt Stadium was the smokin' follow-up to the June 9 & 10 shows at RFK Stadium, in Wash D.C. Watkins Glen was way too many people for me to enjoy it, but I went there with my friends. I saw many of the other east coast shows in '73, up north, like Nassau Coliseum and the Spectrum. RFK Stadium had the best "sound" I ever heard -- hands down. The Dead played great there. It was the sound system that nailed it. Best sound that I EVER heard coming out of a PA System, period! Perfect. Roosevelt Stadium came in 2nd for me because these 2 shows are very exciting, especially set 2 on July 31. Definitely very special. Definitely history. Some of the best of the early Wall of Sound era.

My Roosevelt Stadium tapes circulated locally in 1973. I was disappointed with their sound quality. It's mostly due to a bit too much feedback, a fairly steady lousy ringing, a slight but crappy echo, the PA was tinny sounding. I was with my friends. Their location and my taping location was the same spot. Sorta shitty sounding at my mic's exact location, compared to what it should've been. Plus I had my tapes confiscated by the Hell's Angels on July 31. Other better sounding sources are already in circulation today.

2 years ago I transferred my Aug 1 tape and uploaded to Salah as a special favor to him. I asked him not to circulate it. Salah is the guy who is The_Bus.
